Hey ladies—the makeup artist Bobbi Brown is appearing today at Nordstrom's Chicago for a fabuluos book signing event. So if you're looking for something fun and fresh to do today at Noon (soup is so overrated!), TheLUXURIAN recommends heading on over to Nordstrom's Michigan Avenue cosmetics department. She's there until 2pm and will be sharing beauty tips and signing copies of her new book, "Pretty Powerful: Beauty Stories to Inspire Confidence," in the cosmetics department. Also, they love for guests to experience a Bobbi Brown Makeup Lesson at the event and will have a team on hand to do make-up before and after the signings.

Or, if you're heading to the burbs after work, you can also meet up with her there at the Barnes & Noble Old Orchard beginning at 7PM.

A book and a new look? Sounds great to us!

  • THE EYES HAVE IT

    THE EYES HAVE IT

A change of seasons is around the corner and that's always an exciting time to refresh your look. While MadMen's season is officially on hiatus, it doesn't mean your glamourous 60s cat eye needs to be. It's still a mainstay after all these years--it's luxurious, it's coquettish and yet, it's serious. All bloody wrapped into one. Whether crunching numbers by day or hitting the latest new restaurant opening by night, this classic look will take you through your day seamlessly, with style.

Here are the tools you'll need to achieve your modified 60s West End Eye:

    • Hourglass Calligraphy | Felt Tip Eye Liner
    • Chanel Eye Shadow Quad |  Smoky Eyes
    • Sonia Kashuk | Enhance Eye Shadow, Whisper
    • Dior Skin Nude | Under Eye Concealer
    • Buxom (from Sephora) | Cocker Spaniel Brow Highlighter
    • MAC Angled Brush
    • MAC Eyeliner Blending Brush

Begin by using concealer on your lids to serve as a base for the lid. Draw a fine line with the Hourglass Calligraphy felt tip "pen" from Sephora, staying close to the lash line and extending a bit beyond the outer corner of the eye. (No need to be American gymnast perfect; you'll be messing with it later). Apply the nude eyeshadow (Whisper) all over the lid for a clean palette look.

Next, take your blending brush and use a dark shade like the pewter or the graphite to go over the eyeliner to smudge it a bit, keeping the under lash line free of shadow. (You're going to have to restrain yourself here, but if you can, both YSL and Catherine Deneuve would be proud.)

Last, finish your brow arch with your a dab of Buxom highlighter--or the light pink highlighter shade in the shadow quad--and blend. Do a robust eyelash curling, add false lashes from MAC if you're so inclined, mascara to finish and voila!

Since you're going with a graphic yet understated eye, to make your glam 60s look really sing, pair with a bold lip a dense brow to anchor the face. Here's your fail safe lip. Alternately, should you opt for an all-over smoky eye, pair with a nude, barely there lip, like Frou from MAC. (We're throwing this one in, luvies).

    MAC Lipstick | Frou
    MAC Lipstick | Lady Danger
Chanel  |  MAC  |  Christian Dior  |  Sonia Kashuk  |  Sephora
