  • LINUS BIKE

    LINUS BIKE

    LINUS Love.

At TheLUXURIAN, we're huge fans of a stylish retro city bike, so it's no wonder that we all want a bike from LINUS. Tres chic!

Inspired by French bicycle design of the 50s and 60s, the geniuses at LINUS have created a bicycle that preserves the simple elegance and pure form of that golden era, but has all the benefits of modern comfort and reliability.

LINUS is the utilitarian city bike with a personality and style that makes you feel like you’re in an old French movie…you’re floating a little from the wine you drank at lunch…maybe instead of going back to the office you’ll take a nap under a tree, go for a swim in the sea or drop by your lover’s house…

And ladies, oui, a basket can be attached. Perfect when you want to stowe your lovelies.

  • RALEIGH TRIPPER

    RALEIGH TRIPPER

    Day Trippin’

Fixed gear bikes are trendy these days thanks to their simplicity versus their multi-geared cousins.

Case in point, the Raleigh Tripper. At TheLUXURIAN, we like how this dandy sports an internal gearbox in the rear hub — which makes switching to easier speeds a snap. And the stopping speed of its disc brakes would impress a BMW. Lastly, it's steel construction makes it stronger and easier to ride than aluminum.

So what are you waiting for? It's time to hit the road.

  • ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA PLATINUM WATCH

ROLEX OYSTER PERPETUAL COSMOGRAPH DAYTONA PLATINUM WATCH

    Watch. And Wonder.

There are watches. And then there are Rolex watches. And while we’re not discounting the other grand watches of the world, let’s just admit that there are more time pieces than we, at TheLUXURIAN, have wrists for.

Yet if we were stranded on a desert island and could only choose one watch to grace our wrist, this friends, would be that watch.

Created to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original and hewn entirely from 950 platinum, it features a Cerachrom brown ceramic bezel, an ice blue dial, and a 4130 self-winding movement.

It looks equally at home with you spear fishing on white sands or spending an idyllic evening at the opera.

Just as boys grow to be men, this Rolex is what a watch wants to be when it grows up.

  • THE BAR10DER

    THE BAR10DER

What the Swiss Army Uses for Their Bar.

At TheLUXURIAN, we’ve always believed that great ideas can come from anywhere. Which is why when on our mission to discover hot new products at the International Houseware Show last month, we were pleasantly surprised to find the Bar10der. Clever name aside, this collaboration between the inventor, Josh Salles and his business partner, Geoff Curley (both long-time spirits industry veterans) is a gadget-lover’s dream.

More than a 10-in-1 bartending tool, it’s the perfect accessory for any home mixologist. Like a multi-purpose pocket knife, the Bar10der features ten essential tools including a muddler, reamer, channel knife, jigger, zester, knife, stirrer, strainer, corkscrew, bottle opener and strainer. Did we mention it’s all-in-one? And for a bonus, it comes in six friendly colors and features a non-slip rubber handle and molded plastic accents.

We’d say this is a classic case of how form follows function follows incredible fun!

  • HTC ONE

    HTC ONE

    Handsome Caller.

Samsung and Apple may be stealing the smartphone show these days but in our book, the new HTC One is one of the most handsome phones we’ve seen lately. After all, it was machined from a solid block of aluminum with a slightly curved back that feels solid but not heavy in your palm. And the 4.7 inch Gorilla Glass 2 screen has 468 pixels per inch which, as you can imagine, looks pretty resplendent even against the iPhone 5 and the just introduced Samsung Galaxy S IV.

Inside, the HTC One is also bleeding edge, running Android 4.1 and featuring NFC, LTE and the screaming fast Snapdragon 600 processor. Then there are the two speakers above and below the screen which translates to the most incredible sound you’ve yet to hear on a smartphone. Trust us, you have to hear it to believe it.

The HTC One will be released on all major U.S. carriers in April but there’s no word on pricing or specific dates yet. That said, when the HTC One calls, TheLUXURIAN will definitely answer!

  • OMEGA SPEEDMASTER PROFESSIONAL WATCH COLLECTION

    OMEGA SPEEDMASTER PROFESSIONAL WATCH COLLECTION

    A Watch for the Ages.

When it comes to a statement about who you are, it doesn’t get more personal than a man’s timepiece.

Which is why at TheLUXURIAN, we can’t help but believe if you only have one fine watch, you can’t go wrong with this timeless Omega Speedmaster Professional.

Omegas have been the watch of choice for test pilots and astronauts since the Fifties. In fact, an Omega Speedmaster Professional Chronograph was the first watch on the moon, worn by Buzz Aldrin.

Today, the Speedmaster remains the consummate man’s watch. With a highly legible dial and classic white-on-black markings, it’s equally at home in deep space as it is in a boardroom or breaking new land-speed records.

As functional as it is handsome, the Speedmaster is about as classic as it gets—as time, will definitely tell.

  • MICROPLANE RASP GRATER

    MICROPLANE RASP GRATER

    Grate Expectations.

Here’s an interesting fact: the Microplane grater originated as a smoothing tool for woodworkers. Well, what was good enough for them has since then become an indispensable grating tool for cooks.

At TheLUXURIAN, we're obsessed with the Microplane. Add to your kitchen arsenal with this version of the American-made tool that’s absolutely ideal for quickly zesting citrus and grating hard cheeses, garlic and ginger. We’re also keen on how the razor-sharp stainless-steel teeth allow grating in both directions – saving time and energy.

So get your grate on and cook like a pro!

  • SONOS PLAYBAR

    SONOS PLAYBAR

    Play it Again, Sonos.

If there’s one thing Sonos knows, it’s sound. This time, they’ve created a wall-mounted bar of glory designed to complement your HDTV. The sound bar features nine individually amplified speakers—six mid-woofers and three tweeters. Even better, its single optical remote lets you switch between sources using your TV remote.

At TheLUXURIAN, we’re fans of simplicity. And trust us—simplicity has never sounded this good.

  • JAWBONE BIG JAMBOX

    JAWBONE BIG JAMBOX

    Go-Go Music.

Listen up. Used to be, Bluetooth speakers were pale and sad imitations of the real thing. But the audiophiles among us at TheLUXURIAN were pleasantly surprised by the oomph the new $300 Bluetooth micro-speakers from Jawbone puts out.

It’s the big brother to the original Jambox with an overall footprint at 10 x 3.1 x 3.6 inches. It's naturally packed on some heft as well, weighing 2.7 pounds in contrast to its .75-pound sibling. Still, the unit remains fairly portable and, just like its predecessor, the Big Jambox features the Yves Behar design that makes it look as good as it sounds.

Even better, the Big Jambox can be paired with a whopping eight gizmos at once via Bluetooth—and stay simultaneously synced with two at a time.

As for the sound? It’s extraordinarily powerful for its size, and puts the bass reproduction of many comparable speakers to shame. (That said, the high-end response does distort a little when maxed out. But that’s typical of most speakers in this price range.)

All in all, it’s one of the best Bluetooth speakers on the market. And we think it’d fit well in some lucky bestie’s stocking this month!

  • TAYLOR MADE ROCKET BLADEZ IRONS

    TAYLOR MADE ROCKET BLADEZ IRONS

    Up Your Game.

Their secret? A deep sole pocket which ups the clubface’s flexibility, ensuring higher ball speed and greater distance.

Awesome enough for pros. Yet designed for amateurs. We’ll take ‘em!

  • BOWERS & WILKINS PANORAMA 2

    BOWERS & WILKINS PANORAMA 2

Maybe it’s time you treated your ears to a luxury your eyes have always enjoyed. The sexy Bowers & Wilkins Panorama 2 is a soundbar that brings truly immersive high-quality sound to your TV from a single, discreet speaker. This model dramatically improves on the original thanks to nine drive units including two bass woofers, two midrange drivers and an aluminum dome tweeter.

All of which means an immersive sound experience from just one cabinet and a wide-ranging “sweet-spot” that will allow you to feel its full effect, no matter where in the room you are.

So go ahead. Maybe it’s time you pampered your ears.

  • APPLE IMAC

    APPLE IMAC

    Thin is In.

Our favorite desktop Mac is back, this time more svelte and sleek than ever. The new Apple iMac is impossibly thin—at least 80% skinnier than the last model and weighing 8 pounds less.

Available in 27-inch and 21.5-inch versions, Apple offers a new compromise with a 1TB or 3TB “Fusion Drive”, which melds a 128GB SSD with a typical hard drive, providing near-SSD levels of performance with much more storage.

All this thinness comes at a cost, however. The optical drive was cut in the process. But really, those are so 2011 anyway, don’t you think?

Get the 21.5-inch version starting in November for $1,300, or wait for its bigger brother, starting at $1,800 in December.

We don’t know about you, but your hard-working staff at TheLUXURIAN would consider this a lovely early Christmas present—hint, hint.

  • NEST THERMOSTAT

    NEST THERMOSTAT

    Comfort 2.0

By now you’ve probably already heard about the Nest Thermostat—the little gadget from some Apple alums that turned the world of thermostat design upside down.

Well, the second-generation Nest thermometer is here and while it looks essentially the same, there are some nice design tweaks that make it that much cooler to have around including a hidden motion detector and a thinner, all-steel chassis. But it’s the software tweaks that really make a difference.

The thermostat is now compatible with more types of heating and cooling setups — 95 percent of low-voltage ones, the company says. And it plays well with Android, iPads and iPhones.

We never thought we’d call a thermostat luxurious but we’re willing to make an exception for this little wonder.

  • SAMSUNG GALAXY S III

    SAMSUNG GALAXY S III

    Definitely, the Next Big Thing.

Samsung’s Galaxy S III arrived this summer and it quickly became the premier Android handset on the market. In fact you’d have to use a crowbar to pry the GS III from some of us at TheLUXURIAN.

Why? We’ll spare you the blizzard of techno-geekie reasons and break it down to three simple facts.

The 4.8” screen is huge. And at least when it comes to phones, size definitely matters for surfing or watching videos. Secondly, the GS III is stylishly thin and oh-so light. Lastly, this phone is fast. Especially when it’s on a blazing LTE network which most carriers have now. Screens load faster and downloads are that much quicker.

Sure there are iPhone fans out there and we have a lot of love for Apple as well. But if you’re not in the Apple camp, then the GS III is the crowning champ of the Android universe.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got some calls to make.

  • LEICA M CAMERA

    LEICA M CAMERA

    Holy Shot.

We’re a little camera crazy at TheLUXURIAN. And we're huge fans of Leica, which explains why we’re swooning over the new Leica M camera that proudly sports a full frame 35mm format 24 megapixel CMOS sensor. But don’t let the awesomely retro styling fool you. It also captures 1080p video in a gorgeous magnesium alloy body and is compatible with both M- and R- mount lenses.

At $7,000, it’s not exactly a steal, but it is definitely a grown-up camera that’ll never let you down. And you've got time to save. The new Leica M will be available in black and silver early on in 2013 with pricing TBD.

Push a button, it opens. Push it again, it closes. At TheLUXURIAN, we believe that’s how everything should work, and this new umbrella from Swims is where elegant design meets technology. Did we mention the wind tunnel tested double support ribs? They’ll keep this sturdy fellow from inverting in even the heaviest storms—so you can keep singin’ and stylin’ in the rain.

    Smart—and luxurious. We approve.

  • NEW TOY FOR THE JET SET

NEW TOY FOR THE JET SET

For those at sea over where to lounge, behold: the floating cabana.

Seriously. What could be more fabulous or more in TheLUXURIAN's wheelhouse? The Parrluxe Sea Cabana, natch.

We love the mere idea of this so much--this is, after all, about luxury to love--that we're re-gifting this little gem of an article to you from our friends at the WSJ, written by Sara Ruffin Costello:

"Some problems are easily solved with money. Take for example the challenge of finding a chic spot to lounge near, but not on, your yacht. Cue the applause for ParrLuxe's sea cabana. In about 15 minutes, your major-domo can inflate the roughly 13-by-17-foot party raft for you and up to 20 sunbathing, swan-diving friends. Complete with wraparound seating and a carbon-fiber canopy frame, the craft is a civilized way to splash around the Med. There's even a natural-swimming-pool option (a hole in the floor, covered by a net, lets seawater inside).

The idea was conceived by Stuart Parr, a New York-based designer and movie producer ("Get Rich or Die Tryin' " and "8 Mile"), while he was sailing on a very large boat in Italy. "Sadly, guests had to walk up four levels to sunbathe and then down four levels to swim," Mr. Parr said. "This went on endlessly. I decided to resolve the problem of lounging on the water conveniently and stylishly."

Demand is widespread. ParrLuxe sea cabana's have been spotted floating in front of tony waterfront addresses from Shelter Island, N.Y., to the Greek island of Ithaca."

  • IT'S LOGICAL

    IT'S LOGICAL

Now you can be productive anywhere. Sorry.

At TheLUXURIAN, here's a little secret: we hate trackpads. Maybe you're one of those that love them, and if so, more power to you.

Personally, we'll take a mouse any day. And this little bad boy from Logitech is our favorite ever. The secret sauce? Dark field technology. (Whatever that means). But all you need to know is that it works on just about any surface--wood, metal, and glass.

And if that doesn't make you feel luxurious, we don't know what will.

Logitech Wireless Anywhere Mouse MX, $39; amazon
